Abstract

The overall objective of the research was to conduct a legal analysis of Bitcoin as an investment vehicle in relation to the Ecuadorian tax system. The method used was quantitative, based on research, collection, and critical analysis of documents and bibliographic references, drawing on a methodical, rigorous, and in-depth exploration of various documentary sources, including articles, regulations, and laws, among others, describing the findings. Document review was used as a technique. The inductive-deductive method was also used. It is concluded that Bitcoin is a new means of investment in Ecuador, and the most relevant aspect of this is the range of possibilities offered by this new payment system, focused on appreciation, as a social manifestation of a new technological era that has emerged from the digital economy.
