Lack of access to water as a human right and its regulation
Abstract
The overall objective of the research was to analyze the scarcity of access to water as a human right and its regulation. The study was qualitative in nature. It relied on documentary data collection techniques, involving the collection and analysis of documentary and bibliographic material, through which laws, official gazettes, and scientific articles were reviewed. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted to obtain expert opinions on the issue. In conclusion, there are restrictions in the distribution infrastructure, the maintenance of water resources, and collaboration between different institutions. It was verified that it is necessary to strengthen community management systems, apply stricter controls on water quality, and guarantee the allocation of resources to optimize supply networks when comparing current regulations with local practices.
