The Impact of Early Drug Use on Adolescents’ Right to Physical and Psychological Integrity
Abstract
The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of early drug use on adolescents’ right to physical and psychological integrity. Methodologically, a qualitative approach was used to examine the relationship between drug use among adolescents aged 12 to 18 in urban areas and its impact on their physical and psychological integrity. The results indicated that early exposure to psychoactive substances is associated with alterations in neurological development, cognitive impairment, and emotional distress in young people, which compromises their overall well-being. Furthermore, drug use at this stage increases the risk of dangerous behaviors, violence, and social exclusion, exacerbating their vulnerability. In conclusion, to address this issue, it is essential to adopt a comprehensive approach that combines preventive, educational, and early intervention measures. Strengthening protective factors, such as access to education and family support, is also crucial.
