Game Based Learning as a teaching strategy for Mathematics

Keywords: Educational games, Teaching materials, educational experiments, educational innovations

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the effectiveness of games-based learning as a strategy for teaching mathematics in high school and high school students. The objective of using this methodology is to develop knowledge and generate interest in students through its active participation. It is due to a non-experimental transectional correlational descriptive research. The stratified sample consisted of 75 mathematics teachers from 22 Educational Units of the Azogues canton. It is determined that the study population does use game-based learning, but not correctly, for this reason they do not obtain the positive results that this resource generally causes. Therefore, it can be mentioned that this methodology does not guarantee significant learning, if it is not properly developed.
